Additional issues with coffee
Aside from the cost, which is not a concern for many, and the energy swings, I find that there are more issues with coffee, and the dependency on it goes deeper than just that kick in the morning.
The key aid for many people is coffee as a way to avoid eating. It releases energy from fat storages and produces body heat. Therefore it is possible to stay longer without eating and intermittent fasting becomes not only easy, but completely the ONLY OPTION if you're trying to be on a diet. Due to hunger, the body adapts to release heat with coffee. I found this out when I had to go on a raw eating diet, no boiled or steamed food whatsoever, and I was shivering with cold in absolutely normal room temperature conditions.
Coming back to the original idea, your body adapts to dependency on coffee in more ways than one. I.e. dependency on it for energy release. Which, when one is not on a diet, and is consuming a lot of carbs, will lead to FAT GAIN. So the coffee can have a reverse effect if you are deficient in gut microbiome, or have been treated with antibiotics in your lifetime. The solution - a very slow removal of coffee, no swings and sudden changes. Start with having less of it. You will sweat less, literally, as it releases sweat as part of the stress cycle that most of people are in all their lives.
This is also based on experience on the never ending spiralling out of control cost-wise, where our coffee supply is now dependant on coffee machines, coffee pods/capsules or expensive coffee beans, IN ADDITION to takeaway coffee. All consumed in a pretend-comfort, which never arrives. The initial SIP is just that. The next thing you know, the discomfort of handling the cup in a car, a hot flask on a train, a colleague interrupting you at work, most of the coffee going cold before you finish it, the stress of waste via cups, energy consumed by coffee shops (not many discuss this one).
You name it, and there are literally no upsides to COFFEE. Said by coffee drinker no more. I've wasted all my life in the name of seeking its benefits, and found NONE.
